Hmm. This body. An outer shell that holds her soul. The life it has lived. It’s younger form has been touched by unkind hands. It has been stolen from and it has betrayed itself.
Chemicals have filled it..
so that trauma would not kill it.
Often it fights with chronic pain. This body is tired. It has held onto grief and lost dreams. It has fallen to the ground and hoped to never stand up again. Oh but that is NOT this body’s story ending.
A girl went to find her younger soul. She picked her body up off the floor and held it like an infant. She stared deeply into her own young eyes. A girl took her inner child by the hand to walk her home. HER body has harbored life and given birth to it! It has held the hands and hearts of beautiful people. It has learned to trust itself and know many ways of healing. It has embraced the kind hands and heart of a good man. It has learned to dance and sing and laugh again. This body has become brand new. Her soul feels safe.
This girl knew God’s love when her arms held smaller bodies..created inside of her….so intricately.
Naked she came into this world.
Naked her soul is now.
How lovely to rid it of invisible tattoos she once wore. They were labels. A God who sees her called her out. Eyes full of love as she looked at him. Her younger self had been covered in lies. They fell away as he touched her cheek. She saw him adoring every freckle and color and hair on her head. He loved what he had created. More lies rolled off of her shoulders and she could breathe. How amazing it is to breathe! She dropped the heavy weight of shame. She was naked…
and no longer afraid.
Memories of both victory and defeat flooded her awareness.
Tears fell freely. Streams of gratitude soaked her face. She was no longer a shell. No ugly words carved into her skin, heart, or mind. No.
Painful spaces of her story now RISE to their calling. She is ready.
She gathers wisdom and strength when storms rage.
She recalls that her Father’s words are alive. They flow through her veins! Medicine to dry bones and broken hearts.
Lies that scheme in darkness have lost their power. A soul laid bare. She knows a love that is freedom.
Boldly we go where shame will not be her name. Not ever again. She grows to be a safe harbor. A light to lead others home.
